About Rent Cap Ledger
One place to look up the legal maximum rent increase across the cities and states that cap it, with the official source next to every number.
Official rent-cap figures are scattered across dozens of rent boards, housing departments and PDF notices, and each updates on its own schedule: San Francisco in March, Los Angeles in July, Oakland in August, Santa Monica in September, Oregon and Washington every January. This site collects them, shows how each one is calculated, and keeps the date we last checked.
What's here
- 19 jurisdictions, from California's statewide AB 1482 cap to New York City's Rent Guidelines Board and New Jersey's monthly CPI charts.
- A calculator on every page, the main exemptions, and when the next change is due.
- Email alerts when a cap changes are coming soon. For now the "Notify me" button only counts interest.
Privacy
We use PostHog analytics (US cloud) to count page views, calculator use (the jurisdiction, the option and a rent range, never the exact rent), clicks on official-source links and "Notify me" clicks. PostHog sets a first-party cookie with a random ID. Session recording is off and we don't collect names or email addresses.
Corrections
We fix errors as soon as we find them. Every page shows the official source, so you can always check the figure yourself. See the methodology.
